I successfully made homemade doughnuts last weekend...I still can't believe it. I was kinda nervous because this was my first time working with yeast and I have heard that making GOOD homemade doughnuts is a difficult task.
I read through the recipe and felt confident that I could tackle it. I got to the part where I had to mix the yeast in with warm water. I did it twice...and it was just turning into a nasty, clay-like mess. I recruited some help from my roommate and we nailed it!

The only other issue I had was that the recipe called for 23 ounces of flour. I don't know about you, but I don't typically measure my flour in OUNCES. When I finally got all of the ingredients into the bowl, my dough was anything but dough. So, I just kept adding more flour hoping that dough would begin to pull away from the bowl as it got mixed. Approximately 4 cups later...it finally turned to dough. I feel quite confident that I wasn't 4 cups off in my measurements so I have no clue what happened!! Regardless, they turned out wonderfully! I rolled some in powdered sugar and some in cinnamon sugar. YUM!

Thank you to my friend Natalie for idea and the recipe! Now that I have conquered the doughnut recipe, I'm definitely going to make them again...except next time I think I'll try the chocolate glaze. :)
